Heart Disease and Coffee.

Heart disease is known to be connected with elevated blood levels of both cholesterol and the amino acid homocystine. A study in Norway has found that people who quit drinking caffeinated filtered coffee had reduced blood levels of both these substances. It was first thought that organic substances in the unfiltered coffee may be the problem but several other studies have shown that filtered coffee also increases levels of these heart disease indicators. The indications are that filtering only partly removes the offending substances from coffee. There are some good alternatives available if you just want to relax with a cuppa, such as cereal coffee and herb teas. Try the goumet flavour of our Nulla. It is

beautiful alternative like you make from ground coffee beans. Make a beautiful "Nullachino" or "Nullalatte"  and sweeten with Agave, also available from our store.

Incidentally, why do we want to “relax” using a stimulant? What a contradiction! There seems to be a problem with our modern way of thinking. What we want is a break to relax. Why not use a nice calming herbal tea such as chamomile, a combination. Herbs such as passion flower, skullcap, oats and hops may be added in a combination to your tast and according to what suits you.
